What is an Online Driving Tracker?
An online driving tracker is a digital application that helps you monitor and record your driving trips. It
tracks your routes, calculates the distances traveled, and measures your average driving speed.
What Modes Does This Online Driving Tracker Offer?
This driving tracker provides two key modes: Drive Tracking Mode and Route Planning
Mode.
How to Use Drive Tracking Mode on This Online Driving Tracker?
To utilize Drive Tracking Mode:
Click the green “Start” button to begin tracking.
Enable location permissions in your browser to allow access to your location data.
The timer will activate, showing your location on the map, along with the distance traveled and your average
speed in the Drive Tracking box.
To end the session, click the red “Stop” button.
After you stop tracking, the Drive Tracking box will display your total distance, time spent driving, and average
speed. Additionally, your journey will be mapped out from start to finish.
How to Use Route Planning Mode on This Online Driving Tracker?
To plan a route:
Choose “Start from My Current Location” to set your current location as the route's origin.
Click on your desired destination on the map to mark it as the endpoint.
The map will draw a route from your starting point to the destination, which you can adjust by dragging the
path to fit your preferred route.
In Route Planning Mode, you'll receive an estimated time for completing the route and the average speed needed.
If you wish to start from a different location, disable the “Start Route from My Location” option.
Use the map’s search feature to choose a new starting point.
Can This Driving Tracker Function Offline?
Yes, after loading the driving tracker page, you can disconnect from the internet, and the tool will continue to
function and record your driving activity without any interruptions.
How to Share Your Driving Data Using This Tool?
To share your driving data:
Click the “Share” button on the page.
A popup will appear, allowing you to choose the application for sharing.
Depending on the mode used:
In Drive Tracking Mode: Your shared data will include distance driven, trip duration, and average speed.
In Route Planning Mode: Your shared data will include route distance, estimated travel time, and
required speed.
Can I Zoom In or Out on the Map to Track My Driving Location?
Yes, you can adjust the map view:
Click the “+” button to zoom in for a closer look.
Click the “-” button to zoom out for a broader view.
Can I View the Map in Full Screen to Track My Driving Location?
Yes, you can expand the map to full screen by clicking the “View Fullscreen” button on the map
toolbar.
When Should You Use This Online Driving Tracker?
This online driving tracker is ideal for keeping track of your driving activities at no cost. It's useful for
monitoring distances, travel times, and driving efficiency. Whether you're on a road trip, commuting, or simply
running errands, this tool provides valuable insights into your driving patterns and helps you plan your routes
more effectively.
Can I use this tracker while the phone is mounted on the dashboard?
Yes, mounting your phone safely (using a legal car mount) allows you to keep the screen visible for real-time
updates on distance and speed. Ensure the browser tab stays open and the device is charging to avoid battery
drain during long drives.
Does the tool detect and subtract time spent in traffic jams from average speed?
No, average speed is calculated as total distance divided by total elapsed time, including stops, traffic, and
idling. This provides a realistic overall trip average rather than just moving speed.
Is this tracker suitable for logging mileage for tax deductions or work reimbursement?
Yes—many users record work-related drives for accurate mileage claims. Screenshot or share the final
results (distance, route map, time) as supporting evidence. For official tax purposes, consult local
regulations, as some require more detailed logs.
Can I track fuel efficiency or estimate gas costs with this tool?
No, the tool does not include fuel consumption calculations. You can manually combine the tracked distance with
your vehicle’s known MPG/km per liter to estimate costs separately.
Will the tracker work accurately at high speeds on highways?
Yes, GPS performs well at highway speeds. Frequent location updates ensure smooth route drawing and precise
distance totals, even on long interstate drives.
Can I add notes or labels to specific trips?
No built-in note-taking feature exists. After stopping, use the share function or screenshot and add your own
descriptions (e.g., “Work commute” or “Family road trip”) when saving the image or text.
Does Route Planning Mode consider speed limits or traffic conditions?
No, estimates are based on straight-line adjusted distance and a default average speed. It does not incorporate
real-time traffic, road closures, or legal speed limits.
Is the tool safe to use while driving?
The tool is designed to be started before driving and left running. Avoid interacting with the phone while the
vehicle is in motion—set it up when parked and review results only when stopped for safety.
Can delivery drivers or rideshare workers use this for shift tracking?
Yes—track individual trips or full shifts to log total miles driven. Share or screenshot summaries for
personal records or platform verification (though official apps may be required by employers).
Does the tool work in countries outside the US with different units or road systems?
Yes, it functions globally, displaying both km and miles. Route drawing works on international roads, though map
detail varies by region.
Why might the route line appear jagged or skip sections?
Brief GPS signal loss (tunnels, mountainous areas) causes the tool to connect the last known points with straight
lines. Overall distance remains reasonably accurate for most drives.
Can I track overnight or multi-day road trips?
Yes, as long as the browser tab remains open and the device stays powered (use a car charger). Stop and start new
sessions for each day if needed to manage battery and organize trips.
Is there an option to view maximum speed achieved?
No, only average speed is displayed. Instantaneous speed fluctuations are not recorded or shown for privacy and
simplicity.
Can passengers use this tool without affecting the driver?
Absolutely—passengers can monitor the trip on their own device, sharing interesting stats or planning
detours using Route Planning Mode without distracting the driver.
Does heavy rain or bad weather impact tracking accuracy?
GPS signals are generally robust against weather, though extremely heavy storms or thick cloud cover have minimal
effect. Accuracy remains high compared to indoor or obstructed environments.
Can I compare multiple trips or view history?
No history feature is available. Each session is independent—manually save screenshots or shared data for
personal trip comparisons.
Is this tool better than built-in car odometers for long trips?
It complements odometers by providing visual route maps and shareable summaries. GPS-based distance can be more
precise for non-straight paths or when odometer calibration is off.
Can I use this for off-road or unpaved driving?
Yes, GPS tracks actual path taken, even on dirt roads or trails (where safe and legal). Map may show limited
detail in remote areas.
Does the tool alert me if I exceed a certain speed?
No alerts or speed warnings are included—focus remains on post-trip distance, time, and average speed
summary.
